Welcome to the Israeli Krav Maga Association
We are the original Krav Maga association founded by Imi Lichtenfeld, the inventor of Krav Maga. Founded in 1978, decades before any other Krav Maga association, the IKMA was the first such association to be recognized by the Israeli government. Imi appointed his top student, Haim Gidon. To be his successor and to further develop Israeli Krav Maga. Working from Imi's techniques and principles, Grandmaster Gidon has spent nearly two decades developing Krav Maga into its most modern evolution: the Gidon System
A direct continuation of Imi`s system

DECLARATION
The non-profit Israeli Krav Maga Association (IKMA) was founded in 1970 by Krav Maga creator Imi Lichtenfeld, who served as its President and Grandmaster until his last days. In 1979, the IKMA became the first organization to teach Krav Maga outside Israel, and in 1981, it formally certified the first U.S. instructors. Since 1978, the IKMA has been recognized by the Israeli government's Wingate Institute as the official authority for Krav Maga instructor certification. Since its founding, the IKMA sponsored instructor certification programs both in Israel and around the world.
The IKMA has never issued an exclusive right or license for any entity or individual to create an instructor certification monopoly. Any such claim is false and has no authority in Israel, the source of krav maga. Grandmaster Haim Gidon (10th Dan), co-founder and President of IKMA oversees instructor certification in Israel, the United States, and around the world.
